UZELF, MEVROUW, Baedeker voor de huisvrouw, 1993
(1st (foundation) year at Art College)
(Yourself, Madam,
Baedeker for the housewife)
The original
book was taken apart. Using the original texts & images (plus added
imagery found in
womens' magazines and personal photographs) a new book was created through
cutting, sticking,
photo copying and re-binding. The new content is slightly more 'emancipated'
than the original,
but should not be taken too seriously.
The book was shown at the exhibition Artists Books: Between Tradition
and Experiment,
Museum Meermanno Westreenianum, The Hague, 1995
Below is
a selection of spreads from the book and 'poems' created by cutting up
the original text
and putting the words in a completely different order untill they seemed
to mean something again.
